This site is about my passion for photography. I live and work in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. So most of my pictures will be shot in or around Amsterdam.
I’ve started this site because I was looking for a way to become a better photographer. Now how do you get good at something? By practice, practice and practice so that’s what I’m doing. I’m still learning the vocabulary and grammar but I hope that in the end (don’t know when that will be) I wil be able to create poetry. It’s kind of experimental and I’m testing out all sort of techniques and different styles of photography. I think I already succeeded in becoming better, just look at the first pictures and compare them to the most recent ones. This is the answer of the first question of the F.A.Q. page.
I have a 9 to 5 job at Mirabeau my job title is Front-end developer. I translate psd’s (most of the time) into working html/css/javascript/flash templates. Although I’m good at scripting and making things work I’m not educated as a developer. I did not follow a technical study instead I followed a more creative one at the Dutch Film and Television Academy. This was also the place where I started te learn how to take a good picture. This was around 1994, digital photography was still in it’s child shoes. After graduation I didn’t spent much time photographing but it was always in the back of my mind. So last year I thought why not take the plunge and create a daily updated photography blog. So that’s what this site is.
I’ll shoot & post 1 picture a day…
The rules:
- Post 1 picture a day, if I’m able to. When I’m on a vacation this is not always possible
- Picture is shot on the same day
- Picture is made by me
